It was great to see Calvin and Hobbs finally work through their relationship.
"He said my disabilities didn't define me. I define me."
"That's right." Calvin placed Ethan's hand to his lips for a kiss. "You define you, Ethan. Not your meds, not your mutism, not anyone else. You."
With the help of his wonderful partner, Hobbs is able to adapt to the change in their relationship and overcome some of his fears. Calvin is so patient and it's clear how much he adores Hobbs. I really love them together.
As always, the comedy of this series is hilarious! There were several scenes that had me cracking up.
I loved being able to see Dex through other people's POV's besides Sloane. It's just interesting and fun to see how they see Dex and what they think about him. It was also nice to see Dex and Sloane's relationship from the outside.
It was great to see the other couples in the team and how their relationships are progressing. Ash and Cael are so cute and Dex and Sloane are amazing. They've come so far in their relationship and have become so in tune with one another. I seriously can't wait to get my hands on the next book since it goes back to Dex and Sloane being the main couple.

Another great read by Cochet. Spoiler alert.
This one starts with Calvin Summers and his team in Central Park. He and the team are looking for hyena shifters who have been causing problems. Central Park is where they are and Cal is on point looking for them. The rest of the team is spread out doing the same. Its Winter and the snow is pretty deep making moving quickly a problem.
The team are all part of THIRDS a human/Therian group of law enforcement officers who deal with all thing Therian and human in that area. The team is a mix of Therian shape shifters and human.
Calvin Summers is human and he's the team sniper. As the point man he knows his best friend Ethan Hobbs, a Therian tiger is out there and as always has his back.
Summers and Hobbs have been best friend since childhood. Hobbs isn't comfortable around large groups. In fact he goes mute and freezes. Cal is always there to comfort him and get him out of the area so he can relax. Its something Cal has done ever since the two of them became friends. Cal knows Hobbs inside and out and would like a relationship of another kind but that's something that will take time and Cal has all the time in the world.
The team does round up the hyenas after Cal is knocked down and attacked. Hobbs in tiger form and Sloane as his Jaguar and Ash as a lion round them up and get them into the bearcat. The bearcat is the team vehicle and modified to deal with Therians. Once the hyenas are loaded up they head back to headquarters.
Once at headquarters the Therian return to human form. They do get another call out though. This one involves a bomb threat. Hobbs as the explosives expert does dismantle one bomb only to find out there were two. With no time Hobbs vacates as fast as he can. The bomb explodes but since the building was cleared no one was injured. They do have to go back to that same building though when they get a call about shots fired and hostages.
On arrival the building is cleared once again and Cal heads over to a building across the street. He's the team sniper and he gets himself into a position to take out the gunman if needed. It is needed and Cal takes the shot killing the gunman. This isn't something Cal does lightly but he knows the gunman had already killed on, wounded another and had hostages. Cal knows he had no choice. Unfortunately others don't share the same view.
So begins another great THIRDS read.
This one has Cal, Ethan, Sloane the team leader, his human mate Dex, Ashe, Cael who's Dex's brother and Ash's love interest, the rest of the team, the team Sgt. Maddox, Seb and Rafe who are Ethans older brothers, Austin, Sparks who heads the department, training, a Hobbs and Calvin finally coming together, a Rafe with a secret that's finally revealed, a Seb who's still in love with his mate Hudson, a Hudson who left Seb because of something that happened when the two of them were together, Calvins mother, Ethans mother and father, a nephew of the slain gunman, a Cal who is able to defuse a situation, a missing Dex and the THIRDS doing what it takes to protect New York City, catch the bad guys, hang onto their mates and lovers and stay alive.
Five Stars and then some. Waiting for the next with the team hunting for a missing Dex. Super read full of action, comedy and love.

Calvin and Hobbs...I've been wanting to know more of their story from the very beginning (right up there with Seb and Hudson, too). And this was a good installment for that. There's not a ton happening in the background with the rest of the team, so this had the feel of more of a filler installment. But I've liked these guys all along, so it worked for me.
I liked that we got more about the Hobbs brothers and the backstories that have been floating there. I've had a lot of unanswered questions about how they all fit together and this book filled in a lot of those blanks...especially when it came to Seb and Hudson's back story.
I have always loved Calvin and Hobbs together. What's always made them work is that they were best friends. Even when that slowly evolved into more, that strong unshakable foundation was there to build on...and I love them even more now.
This is part of a larger world/story, so you really need to read the entire series before tackling this one.
