I found it difficult to put down. I admire him so much in the way he has conducted his life and helped others in so many ways. He is an inspiration. Loved this! Beautifully written - so easy to read. Very moving stories which really illustrate current issues. I think you could enjoy it even if you aren't familiar with Michael Kirby.
it's fairly dry and I doubt I would ever read it again or recommend it to anybody else to read.
An incredible selection of stories from an inspirational Australian. This is not an autobiography, but a selection of stories from various events in the author's life. Many of the stories relate to issues of prejudice and discrimination, not to raise anger, but to foster understanding and respect. Everyone should read it.
It gives a Cradle- to Now account of the events which shaped his life. Un-selfconsciously reveals his initial handling of his sexual proclivities, and their development, acceptance and promotion of a more liberal viewpoint.
A fascinating insight into Judge Michael Kirby's life - and what a life he has lead! Pathos and humour are there, and one is left with the feeling that, having now retired, Michael Kirby will be sorely missed on the High Court Bench.
This is an easy to read story of the more personal events in Michael Kirby's life. It would be beneficial to know of Michael Kirby's outstanding public life and achievements in Australian judicial history before reading his "Private Life".
I cherish this book because it helped me to understand relationships between same sex couples. Here is non of the grandstanding or pushing for a point of view which can be off-putting. Highly recommend it for us, the older generation -)
